A group, Idoma Youths Vanguard has vowed to stand by former Senate president, David Mark and make sure his mandate is protested.
Senator David Mark was sacked by a Court of Appeal which sat in Abuja in Makurdi, the capital of Benue state after his victory at the Benue south senatorial district election was challenged by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at the election, Daniel Onjeh on the grounds that the poll was marred by irregularities.

The Sun reports that Mr. Mike Ogidi Ocheibi, the president of the Idoma Youth Vanguard in a statement released on Friday, December 4 in Abuja said they were surprised at the outcome of the court ruling but were determined to make sure the former Senate president got his position back during the re-run of the election.
Part of the statement read: “We do not intend to join issues with the respected Appellate tribunal, but we are alarmed and indeed taken aback by the verdict. It is strange to us that the appeal panel tied its verdict on the difference in dates and ignored the collated results.
“Interestingly, both the PDP and APC candidates and their agents did not dispute the election results collated from the various units duly signed. In fact , both agents signed the results from the units to the senatorial collation centers.
“Everybody turned in results but in the date by the INEC returning officer, he wrote 28th ( the date of the Senatorial election) rather than 29th, the collation date. When his attention was drawn to it he said the election was conducted on 28th and therefore sacrosanct,”
Meanwhile, following the verdict of the court, Mark was assured by the PDP that the party was solidly behind him his quest to return back to the Senate.
