On December 31st 2015, the heartbreaking photo of a young lady in Kano carried by her brother in a bowl went viral on social media.
The photo was retweeted hundreds of times and since then, people from around the country have offered and given support. She has now received a wheelchair and her brother a scholarship from well meaning Nigerians.
Diagnosed with a congenital condition resulting in no lower body, an NGO – Community Health and Research Initiative has also set aside funds for the young boy’s education and the lady’s food and clothing.
