President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the restructuring and expansion of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, into six regional campuses across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. This landmark decision is aimed at decentralizing aviation training, enhancing accessibility, and strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and
Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who emphasized that the expansion will
ensure equitable access to world-class aviation education nationwide.
Under the new structure, the six campuses will be located in the following cities:
- Akure, representing the South-West
- Osubi, representing the South-South
- Ebonyi, representing the South-East
- Ilorin, representing the North-Central
- Yola, representing the North-East
- Zaria, representing the North-West (and remaining as the headquarters)
“This initiative will bridge regional gaps, create
opportunities for aspiring aviation professionals, and align with our national
development goals,” said Keyamo.
The six campuses will be strategically located in the North
Central, North East, North West, South East, South South, and South West
regions. Each campus will specialize in critical areas such as pilot training,
aircraft maintenance, aviation safety, and management.
This reform is part of President Tinubu’s broader agenda to
modernize Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, improve safety standards, and
generate employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

nation’s premier aviation training institution. With this expansion, NCAT is
set to become a multi-campus hub for aviation excellence, preparing Nigeria to
meet global standards in aerospace and aviation development.
